Flights to Kokkola-Pietarsaari Buy

A curious event from the Crimean War is still well remembered in Kokkola. The Skirmish of Halkokari took place when the Royal Marines tried to come ashore in Kokkola to ransack the town. Not only were they defeated but a small British vessel actually fell into the hands of the defenders. You can see the gunboat on display when you visit Kokkola's English Park. The local natural history museum Luontokokoelma Kieppi has an impressive butterfly collection of 30 000 species, parts of which are frequently exhibited.
